Present: Frances Archer, Merryl Brownlow, Patty Marfise-Patt, Mindy Schloss, Tina Skoubis, Lori Hinton, Lori Samataro, Angie Nelson, Melinda Boutsikakis.

Meeting called to order at 12:40 p.m.

Principal’s Report: Merryl Brownlow reported for GG.
GG currently has 437 students.
The students will have a Cultural Arts Assembly on 2/12/08 – Harriet Tubman.
All activities related to third grade transition will be communicated in May.
The 5th grade students will be visiting the middle schools on February 13, 2008.
Donations of paper are needed for the classrooms.

Principal’s Report: Lori Hinton reported for WB.
Kindergarten registration will take place on March 13, 2008.
Students are thriving with the uninterrupted time they have at school now.

Treasurer’s Report: Lori Samataro reported on the budget.

Valentines Day Parties -Please remember that no candy is allowed at the parties.


Committee Reports:

-School Supplies – Both schools will be turning in their supply lists for next year this week.

-Environmental – GG students are recording their attempts to reduce snack waste.
The Environmental Committee has offered to help with Movie Night at GG to help with recycling.

-Market Days – Next pick up is Wednesday, February 13th.

-Movie Nights – GG movie will be determined this week. WB students will vote on their movie the week of March 3rd. Permission slips will go out on 3/13/08 and Movie Night at WB will be held on April 11, 2008.

-Yearbook – Please send in your photos. They must be submitted by February 22nd.

-Kindergarten Registration – will be held on March 13, 2008. Volunteers are needed from 4pm-7pm to help parents register. Please contact Frances Archer if you are interested in volunteering.

-Dining For Dollars – the next event will take place on March 13, 2008 from 5pm-9pm.

-Dinner Dance – Volunteers are still needed for check out. Please contact Melinda Boutsikakis if you are able to help. Friday, February 15th is the deadline for the Auction Book.

New Business/Other:
Citizens Finance Advisory Committee and Facilities Committee Recommendations
Re-imbursement will increase next year for both military and special education students. This increase is in effect for two years only.

06-07 PTA Request Reaffirmation to Reduce Class Size at GG
PTA reaffirmed to the Board that class sizes should be reduced down to 24 students per class at the 3rd-5th grade level.

Mayor’s Climate Survey Report

Jump Rope For Heart
The event was very successful and raised over $3,000 for the American Heart Association just from on-line donations.
Mindy Schloss will send a letter to Preston Roberts and Lori Marcotte thanking them for their support and efforts towards this event.
