HOLIDAY PROGRAM
The Westbrook Holiday Program is this week on Wednesday, December 19th and Thursday, December 20th.
There are morning and afternoon programs scheduled for both days. There are four performance times to accommodate the schools growing numbers. Please check the schedule to determine which program you should attend.

PLAYING IN THE SNOW
We are in need of additional snow pants and boots for students who do not have them. If you have extra items, please send them to school. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Giving Tree!

WINTER PROGRESS-MONITORING
January is the time of year when we review our students’ progress in literacy. Kindergarteners take a phonemic segmentation and letter-sound fluency assessment. Both first and second graders read to an adult for one minute to determine their rate of reading and errors. We use the results of these assessments to help us plan for instruction and monitor our school-wide goals in literacy.

GEF Grants
Several members of the 1st and 2nd grade teams received a GEF grant to explore the improvement of mathematics instruction at Westbrook. Grant winners include: Ms. Sulak, Mrs. Brown, Ms. Kronborg-Mogil, Ms. Horak, Ms. Cunningham, Ms. Dhamer and Ms. Gerardi.

Green Club
Westbrook will be starting a “Green Club” to help us plan for reducing our impact on the environment (e.g., waste-free lunch, waste-free snack, reusing, recycling paper). We will have an assembly after Winter Break to kick-off this initiative. Two students from each classroom will be representatives for the Club.
Happy holidays to our wonderful PTA!

WISHING WELL PROJECT
Thank you to all of you who supported our Wishing Well project. We were able to help over 20 families from our own cluster to enjoy a happier holiday! The generosity among our families was overwhelming.

HOLIDAY SING
There will be a holiday sing for students this Friday morning. Students should dress in the spirit of the holidays.
