Dolch Word List

The Dolch words are the 220 most frequently found words.  Students who learn these words have a good base for beginning reading.  Many of these words cannot be sounded out because they do not follow decoding rules.  These words must be learned as sight words.

Online Spelling Program

Here is a link to a free online spelling program for grades 1-5 that uses text-to-speech technology and phonetically correct interactive characters. Students listen to words being used in sentences and then can type or use the site's graphic keyboard to spell the words. Teachers (or parents) can input their weekly spelling words and the students can use this independently.
