Holi- otherwise known as “The Festival of Spring,” “The Festival of Colors,” and the “Festival of Love,” Holi celebrates the triumph of good over evil, the arrival of spring, and the love of Radha & Krishna, two important figures in the Hindu religion
Gulal- paint powder that is thrown during Holi. The story goes that Krishna was concerned about his complexion as compared to his consort Radha (Krishna is often depicted with dark or blue skin), so Krishna’s mother smeared gulal on Radha’s face. Gulal also has a medicinal purpose, as it is made out of a variety of medicinal herbs.
