Federal holiday - a day designated by the federal government at the national level. On this day, federally operated businesses such as post offices and public schools are usually closed

Red Poppies- Poppies are the flower of remembrance, as poppies are known to be resilient and can even bloom in battlefields

Military- armed forces of a country. In the USA, that includes the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, etc.

Decoration Day- Memorial Day was once known as Decoration Day, as after the Civil War, people would decorate the graves of fallen soldiers on this day

Moment of Remembrance- the government passed a law in 2000 that all people pause in silence to remember the fallen for one minute at 3:00 PM on Memorial Day
