Juneteenth is a federal holiday commemorating the historic emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebration of Black culture. Celebrations may include family reunions, picnics/barbeques,  rodeos, historical reenactments, blues festivals, Miss Juneteenth contests, and pilgrimages to Galveston, Texas, where the holiday was first recognized.
