What is Vishu?

Vishu is a Hindu festival marking the astrological new year of the Malayalam calendar. It is celebrated with viewing golden blossoms of the Indian laburnum, money or silver items, cloth, rice, fruits, mirrors, and other harvest products, as it is believed that you want to see things that bring prosperity and luck on the first day of the year. There are also fireworks, people wear new clothes, and eat a feast called Sadhya.
